Xavier’s golf team won the Walter Lowell Invitational for the second straight year, besting Bristol Central by six strokes Friday at Avon’s Blue Fox Run.

The Falcons’ four-man team totaled 302 strokes. Canton (315), Coventry (324) and Somers (324) joined Bristol Central in the top five.

Junior Brady Pill and senior captain CJ Giuliano each shot 3-over 73 to lead Xavier. Senior John Thompson came in at 76 and sophomore Bennett Cedillo carded 80.

Sharing medalist honors at 71 were Brandon Frye of Bristol Central and Nicholas Leadbetter of Canton.

Rounding out the field of teams were Suffield (339), Old Saybrook (346), Granby (361), Bristol Eastern and East Granby.

Xavier’s Pill and Giuliano have had strong starts to the season, with both earning medalist honors in matches along the way.

The tournament is named for Walter Lowell, who was the manager, president and PGA professional at the Canton Public Golf Course for more than 40 years.
