Morgan scored in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice bunt Monday to beat Old Saybrook for the second time in a week, 3-2 in Shoreline Conference action in Clinton.

Morgan (7-3) has won 7 of its last 8.

Wyatt Luke had 3 of the Huskies’ 8 hits.

Connor Lane was 2 for 3 with a solo home run for Old Saybrook (2-6) and Auggie Albert had 2 hits. Jack Palazzo got the win in relief of starter Lucas Hoadley.

Also on Monday, Middletown (4-5) lost to Bristol Eastern 5-1 at Palmer Field, while Xavier (2-7) lost to Notre Dame of West Haven 5-4 at Quigley Stadium.

Haddam-Killingworth 4, Old Lyme 0: Right-hander Blake Kamoen pitched a 2-hit shutout, striking out 8 and walking none, for his third win of the season. Evan Aubin drove in 2 runs, Luke Mauri drove in 1 and Ryan Erskine ripped 2 hits for the Cougars, who improved to 8-1 overall.

Rowen Meisner and Jordan Hanes had Old Lyme’s hits. Hanes got the start and gave up 3 runs, all earned, on 4 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 3. The Wildcats fell to 4-4.


Old Lyme 1, Haddam-Killingworth 0: Senior Emma Bayor allowed 4 hits and struck out 14, and Erin Durant drove in Sybil Neary with a sacrifice fly for the winning run. The Wildcats are 5-0 against Shoreline teams and 5-1 overall.

Mercy 14, Hamden 0: Amelia Andruskiewicz was 3 for 4 with an RBI and Katelyn Bailey hit a 2-run home run to power the Tigers to their eighth win in 11 games. Pip Karch was the winning pitcher, striking out 14 with no walks. Mercy played an error-free game. Izzy Robinson singled for Hamden.

Old Saybrook/Westbrook 11, Cromwell 8: Jennifer Neigel had 3 hits and freshman Justine Freis and Emerson Cooke added 2 each for the Rams (4-2). Victoria Wiatrak led Cromwell with 3 hits, giving her 100 in her career with the Panthers. Eva Artioli added 2 hits and Lexi Wiatrak hit a triple for Cromwell (3-4).
