Auggie Albert hit 2 home runs and Old Saybrook teammate Connor Lane went deep and drove in 6 runs to power the Rams to a 15-7 Shoreline Conference baseball win over host Portland on Thursday.

With the game tied at 6 after 2 innings, Old Saybrook scored 4 runs in the third and 5 in the fifth to pull away from the Highlanders (2-10).

Albert was 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored as the Rams improved to 10-3. Lane was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to go with his game-high ribbies. Carson Brown and Ed Devaney also had 2 hits and an RBI each. Noah Grace and Noah Hester also drove in a run apiece.

Lane got the win with 4 scoreless innings in relief of Brown. Lane walked 1 and struck out 8.

Mike Quesnel homered for Portland as part of a 2 for 4 day, drove in 2 runs and scored 2. Carson Nicol was 2 for 2 with a run scored and RBI, Ryan LaPila drove in 2 runs and Harrison Collins had a hit, RBI and run scored for the Highlanders.

Haddam-Killingworth 17, Morgan 4: Junior right-hander Callen Powers struck out 7 over 6 innings for his third win of the season and the Cougars hammered out 14 hits in their Shoreline rout in Clinton. Freshman Todd Butler hit 3 doubles and Caden Civiello hit a 2-run home run in a 6-run fifth inning for the Cougars (9-5). Ethan Reemsnyder hit his fourth home run of the season for the Huskies (6-10).

Hale-Ray 7, Westbrook 2: Oliver Ross was the winning pitcher and also hit a double for the Noises (6-6), who built a 6-0 lead after 3 innings. Sam Forsyth also doubles for Hale-Ray. Westbrook fell to 0-14.

Softball

Cromwell 4, Valley Regional 1: Lily Kenney scattered 5 hits while striking out 5 and Jamie Anderson had 2 hits and stole 3 bases in the Panthers’ Shoreline Conference win in Deep River. Cromwell (12-2) scored 3 runs in the fifth to take a 4-run lead over the Warriors (5-9). Victoria Wiatrak also had 2 hits for the Panthers. Anna Benson had 2 hits to lead Valley.
