Starter Victoria Gage and reliever Emma Bayor kept Coginchaug’s high-powered offense in check, while Jenna Schauder and Ava Roth drove in 2 runs each to lead Old Lyme to a 5-3 Shoreline Conference softball win Tuesday in Durham.
The Wildcats improved to 10-3 overall, 9-3 in the conference, while the Blue Devils fell to 9-3 and 8-2.
Gage pitched 4 2/3 innings for the win, allowing 2 runs on 7 seven hits with no walks and 1 strikeout. Bayor limited the Blue Devils to a run on 3 hits over the final 2 1/3 innings for the save.
Schauder was 2 for 4 while Anna Eichholz had 2 hits and scored twice.
Mia Poturnicki took the loss for Coginchaug.
Haddam-Killingworth 17, Valley Regional 7: The Shoreline-leading Cougars blasted 4 home runs, including a grand slam by freshman Caley Napoletano. Cheyenne LaTouche, Annabella Zajac and Ivy McNiel also went deep. Napoletano finished with 6 RBIs, while Kaleigh Bodak and Bella Richwine each had 3 hits for H-K. Valley’s Sammy Pierce had 4 hits, including a home run. H-K improved to 13-1 while Valley slipped to 5-8.

Roth had 2 hits and sophomore Grady Lacourciere supplied 2 hits and 2 RBIs as the Wildcats (5-8) ended the 8-5 Blue Devils’ 3-game winning streak.
Aidan Ward pitched 6 innings for the win and Santiago Rodriguez finished with a scoreless seventh.
Jayson Penney had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs for Coginchaug. Connor Willett, who struck out 10 over 6 innings, took the loss for the Blue Devils.
Morgan 4, Cromwell 1: Garret Garbinski led the Huskies to victory on the mound. The senior right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 11. Colby Dimenna took the loss for Cromwell. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and striking out 2. Ethan Reemsnyder led Morgan with 2 hits in 3 at-bats.
