Berlin overtook Middletown in the third quarter and the Blue Dragons managed just 13 second-half points in their 61-50 loss to the visiting Redcoats on Thursday night.

Jenna Wenzel and Kailee DeMaio scored 15 points each as Berlin (4-4) ended 7-2 Middletown’s five-game winning streak.

Blue Dragons senior guard Tyah Pettaway scored a game-high 23 points, including six straight in transition late in the first half to give Middletown a 32-28 lead.

Middletown led 37-34 at halftime and went up five when Jada Bryant put back her own rebound in the first minute of the third quarter.

But a 10-4 run by Berlin put the Redcoats in the lead at 44-43 with 2:20 left. Middletown went cold from the floor from there and played catch-up the rest of the way.

Shadae Bushay contributed 13 points for Middletown, which again played without guard Shalyn Smith. The Dragons return to the court Tuesday for a CCC home game against Bristol Eastern (3-3).
