The Cromwell girls basketball team gave longtime coach Kelly Maher her 300th victory Thursday night, beating Pomperaug 54-35 at Jake Salafia Gymnasium for its fourth straight win of the new season.

Nevaeh Clark scored a game-game 20 points (8 of 8 from the free-throw line), Jessica Grodzicki contributed 14 points and Adela Cecunjanin scored 7 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds to go with 5 assists and 2 blocks for the unbeaten Panthers.

Maher, now in her 15th season as coach, is averaging 20 wins a season at Cromwell.

“I have had great players that I have been fortunate to coach, and it’s a great honor to be among those coaches who have achieved this accomplishment,” she said after the game.

Cromwell is off until Tuesday, when it visits defending Shoreline Conference champion East Hampton for a 2pm game.

Claudia Schneider led Pomperaug (2-2) with 17 points.
