The Middletown girls basketball team’s season started on a winning note Tuesday as the Blue Dragons defeated host Hall 63-52 behind a 21-point night from senior Tyah Pettaway.

Middletown led by 11 after the first quarter and opened up a 36-18 lead at halftime. The Blue Dragons led by 20 in the final minutes of the game before a late surge by Hall.

Senior guard Shadae Bushay finished with 16 points for Middletown. The Blue Dragons’ home opener is Friday against Manchester, a 5:15pm start.

Mackenzie Mandycz had three 3-pointers and led Hall with 15 points.
