Senior Brady Stevenson scored 3 goals Saturday as top seed Xavier overpowered West Haven 5-2 in an SCC tournament quarterfinal match at Larry McHugh Field.

John Milardo scored on a penalty kick and Vin Graham scored the final goal to keep the Falcons (15-0-2) unbeaten through 17 matches. They will host No. 4 seed Fairfield Prep on Tuesday (6:30pm). Xavier owns two wins over Prep in the regular season.

Stevenson was assisted by Finn Russell and Ryan Gerry before completing his hat trick.

“Brady played very well,” Xavier coach Brian Fitzgerald said.

Mubarak Issa scored for West Haven (10-5-2), assisted by Donaldo Yanez.

Xavier keeper Spencer Misenti collected 4 saves, while Brian Carew had 9 for the Westies.

Mercy 1, Branford 0

Highlights: Kate Donlan converted on a penalty kick in the 59th minute, lifting the Tigers past the Hornets at Xavier’s Larry McHugh Field and into the SCC girls tournament semifinals. Melina Ford had 9 saves in Mercy’s 13th shutout win of the season. Branford keeper Macey Girard had 7 saves.

Boys Soccer

Portland 1, Haddam-Killingworth 0 (OT)

Highlights: In a Shoreline Conference tournament first-round game Friday, Cole Bates converted a pass from Caiden Hettrick-Rivera with 5:40 left in the first overtime to send the Highlanders into the semifinal round. The goal came out of a corner kick, with Bates beating a defender and burying his shot to the near post.

Next Match: Portland visits No. 1 seed Old Saybrook, Tuesday, 3pm.

Morgan 3, East Hampton 2

Highlights: Joe Morse’s goal in the 71st minute from a Sebastian Kadlof assist turned out to be the winner as the No. 3 seed Huskies eliminated the Bellringers to reach the Shoreline semifinals. The match was tied at 1 at halftime, with Matt Lopez (Jake Bardinelli) scoring for Morgan and Paul Pignatella tallying for East Hampton. Kadlof assisted Kolby Clifton in the 69th minute and Morse scored 2 minutes later. Ethan Marshall scored in the 73rd minute for East Hampton. Bailey Goss had 11 saves for the Huskies and Drew DiStefano had 10 for East Hampton ().

Middletown 8, Hartford Public 0

Highlights: Marshall Butler and Dario Rigano scored 3 goals apiece Friday to power the Blue Dragons to their sixth straight win. Seshank Sekar and Angelo Santostefano also scored. Rigano, Butler, Sekar, Joao Oliveira, Kris Bocchio and Nicholas Edward had an assist each for Middletown. Alex Alvarez had 5 saves for Hartford Public (0-13-0).

Next Match: Middletown (11-1-3) visits Lewis Mills in regular-season finale, Tuesday, 4pm.

Volleyball

Old Lyme 3, Montville 0 (25-13, 2-19, 25-19)

Highlights: The Wildcats wrapped up the regular season with a XX win. Abby Sicuranza had 5 kills, Fiona Hufford had 5 aces and Lizzy Duddy finished with 10 assists.

Next Match: No. 6 Old Lyme visits No. 3 Hale-Ray in the Shoreline tournament, Monday, 6pm.
