Xavier marked the halfway point of the soccer season with its third straight victory, 6-0 over Norwich Free Academy on Monday at Larry McHugh Field.

Ryan Gerry scored and set up two other goals as the Falcons, no strangers to hot starts, improved to 7-0-1.

John Milardo, Brady Stevenson, Aidan Driscoll, Jack Polke and Oliver Klimas found the net for Xavier. Gerry assisted Milardo and Stevenson, Driscoll scored on a penalty kick and put back a rebound.

“They are progressing well,” said Xavier coach Brian Fitzgerald, whose 2019 team started 10-1-1.

Spencer Misenti and Cristian Torres shared time in goal, accounting for 1 save.

Xavier begins the second half of its 16-game schedule on Friday at home against Cheshire. Xavier beat the Rams (3-3-1) 2-1 in its season-opening match.

Enfield 2, Middletown 1

Highlights: Marshall Butler, assisted by Nicholas Edward, scored the only goal for the Blue Dragons (5-1-2), who suffered their first loss. Enfield is 3-2-2.

Cromwell 5, Lyman Memorial 1

Highlights: Alex Barnat and Jacob Salafia scored 2 goals apiece as Cromwell built a 3-1 lead at halftime and rolled to its out-of-conference win in Lebanaon. Logan Fox also scored for the Panthers. Lyman fell to 2-4-1.

Next Match: Cromwell (5-2-1) at Hale-Ray, Tuesday, 6pm.

Morgan 2, Waterford 0

Highlights: Steven Kinser scored both of the Huskies’ goals in their out-of-conference win in Waterford. Fabio Silveira and Jake Mastriano had the assists. Keeper Bailey Goss had 6 saves, while Tim Silva had 3 for Waterford.

Next Match: Morgan (7-1-1) hosts North Branford, Tuesday, 6:30.

Girls Soccer

Morgan 8, North Branford 0

Highlights: Mia Digiandomenico scored the first 2 goals of her varsity career to lead the Huskies’ offense in their Shoreline win in North Branford. Katie Martin scored 6:30 into the match and was followed by Digiandomenico’s scores. Caeley Ayer, Glenda Zhiminaicela, Maeve Madura, Angelina Comiskey and Taylor Maher also scored for Morgan. Ayer, Comiskey, Maher and Logan Pernal had an assist each. North Branford keeper Ava Candelora finished with 16 saves. Samantha Way followed starter Comiskey in net for the final 60 minutes and had 2 saves.

Volleyball

Haddam-Killingworth 3, Morgan 0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-19)

Highlights: For unbeaten H-K, Gillian Miller had 7 service points with 3 aces and 3 kills; Audrey Snyder had 10 service points with 6 aces and 3 kills; Jessica Timothy had 4 service points with 2 aces and 11 kills; and Lorin Danaher had 4 service points and 2 kills.

Next Match: H-K (10-0) hosts North Branford on Thursday, 6:45; Morgan (4-8) visits Old Lyme, Wednesday, 5:30.

Old Lyme 3, Valley Regional 2 (25-18, 23-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-7)

Highlights: For Old Lyme, Abby Sicuranza had 13 kills, Abby Speckhals had 18 assists and Melanie Warren had 18 digs and 8 aces.
