Kolby Pascarelli wasn’t going to be denied this season. He proved time and again to be the top all-around player in the Shoreline Conference. Coaches confirmed this when they recently voted him as the league’s Player of the Year.

Pascarelli, a UConn baseball commit who will attend St. Thomas More Prep as a postgraduate in 2021-22, is hitting .448 (statistics through 21 of Coginchaug’s 22 games to date) with 10 extra-base hits and 23 runs scored. On the mound, the left-hander is 7-0 with a 1.35 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings.

Coginchaug wouldn’t be 19-3 overall without senior right-hander Alex Mach, who pitched in Pascarelli’s shadow but was every bit as effective and dominant. Mach would be the ace in most other rotations and supported this opinion by being voted the Shoreline Pitcher of the Year. He posted a 5-0 record and 0.43 ERA, allowing just two earned runs in 32 2/3 innings.
