Amelia Andruskiewicz’s single in the ninth scored Jasmine Mendez from second base, lifting Mercy to a 2-1 extra-innings softball win over Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden on Monday.

Abbie Goff legged out a mishandled ball in the infield to start the nine for the Tigers and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nicole Saraceno. Mendez was inserted as a pinch runner and came around on Andruskiewicz’s hit.

Ashley DeLuca hit a run-scoring double in the first inning after Alexa Boone doubled and was subbed for courtesy runner Delaney Boone.

Alexa Boone pitched all nine for Mercy (7-3), allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out 14.

Amanda Savinelli, who beat the Tigers 4-1 in Middletown last month, yielded four hits in the loss. Sacred Heart fell to 6-4.

Mercy hosts Daniel Hand on Wednesday (3:45pm).
