Alex Sheehan pitched 3-hit ball over 6 innings and Matt Miranda supplied 3 hits and 2 RBIs at the plate to lead Haddam-Killingworth to a 7-0 Shoreline Conference baseball victory over Valley Regional on Wednesday in Higganum.
Lucas Kamoen pitched the seventh for the unbeaten Cougars (3-0). Luke DiMauro also contributed to H-K’s 13-hit attack with 2 hits, an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Ben Alexander had a double for Valley (1-2).

Winning pitcher Alex Mach and Connor Willett combined on a 3-hit shutout to give the Blue Devils’ their third straight win in Shoreline play. Mach walked 2 and struck out 10 over 6 innings and Willett got the save.
Willet and Evan Faiella (in his season debut) drove in a run each for visiting Coginchaug. Colbe Andrews had 2 of Old Lyme’s 3 hits and Maverick Swaney pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. The Wildcats are 1-2.
Portland 6, Westbrook 2
Spencer Rosado allowed 2 runs in 6 innings, walked 1 and struck out 7 as the host Highlanders posted their first win of the season after an 0-2 start. Portland scored 4 runs in the third, highlighted by Teddy Williams’ 3-run home run, to erase a 1-0 Westbrook lead.
Harrison Collins had 2 hits, scored twice and drove in 2 runs for Portland and Williams finished with 2 hits and 4 RBIs. Jack Naccarato had an outstanding day at the plate for Westbrook with 2 doubles and a triple. Trevor Hendrixson took the loss for the Knights.
Portland is home again on Friday against Old Saybrook at 11 a.m.
SOFTBALL
East Haven 9, Mercy 7 (10)
Visiting East Haven scored 4 runs in the 10th and Adrianna Franceshi made a game-saving catch in right field to spoil Alexa Boone’s 22-strikeout performance and the Tigers’ attempt to win their third straight.
Tori Heaphy struck out 11 for East Haven (2-1) and Brooke Clancy and Autumn Clancy hit home runs.
For Mercy, Ashley DeLuca (3 for 4, 3-run home run, 3 RBIs), Boone (4 for 6, 2-run homer), Nicole Saraceno (3 for 6) and Amelia Andruskiewicz (3 for 6) powered Mercy’s offense.
Cromwell 4, Morgan 1
The host Panthers scored twice in the fifth and six innings and Lily Kenney pitched a 1-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Kenney had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, while Madison Tessmer and Jamie Anderson had 2 hits apiece for the Panthers (2-1).
Kerry Edwards struck out 8 for Morgan (2-1).
