Javy Diaz hit a two-run double in the third to put East Hampton ahead early and Carter Scovill pitched six innings of two-hit ball as the host Bellringers defeated Morgan 3-1 on Saturday.
Scovill got the win and Nate Bigelow pitched the seventh for the save.
Josh Wagner and Dan Cascio each had a double for East Hampton.
Morgan right-hander Rob Zirlis went five innings for the Huskies, allowed two runs on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Hale-Ray 1, Old Lyme 0
Charlie Gable had the only hit off Old Lyme starting pitcher Tait Sawden and scored from third on a two-out error in the sixth to give the Noises the Shoreline win on the road.
Hale-Ray’s Matt Lauria spun a two-hitter, walked none and struck out six for the win.
Sawden went the distance, allowing an unearned run and striking out 12 with no walks. Alex Roth singled and Sawden had a double.
Old Saybrook 13, Westbrook 1
Joe Bradley homered and drove in two runs and Jake Butler had two doubles and two RBIs as part of the Rams’ 17-hit attack in their season opener at Westbrook.
Nick Scalzo doubled, drove in a run and stole two bases for Old Saybrook. Gabe Kaar was the winning pitcher.
Dan Zambrano doubled and drove in Westbrook’s only run. Trevor Hendrixson took the loss.
Xavier 9, Sheehan 4
The Falcons rung up 16 hits in their Southern Connecticut Conference interdivision opener in Wallingford, with leadoff hitter Mitch Bludnicki going for 4 for 4 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs.
Drew Errera and Dillon Luke had three hits each and Drew Kron was 2 for 4 with a run and RBI. Luke scored three runs and Errera doubled, scored one run and drove in another.
Junior right-hander Tyler Hartley got the win for the Falcons, allowed an unearned run and one hit over four innings with no walks and four strikeouts.
SOFTBALL
Mercy 22, Career 0 (5)
Alexa Boone allowed one hit and struck out 13 in the Tigers’ victory at East Shore Park.
Haddam-Killingworth 5, Cromwell 4
Cromwell sophomore Lily Kenney struck out 14 and surrendered just three hits, but the Panthers’ defense wasted a 4-0 lead as the host Cougars scored four unearned runs in the sixth to complete their comeback.
Kenney and Jamie Anderson had two hits each and Victoria Wiatrak hit a two-run single for Cromwell.
Morgan 11, East Hampton 1
Kasey Edwards pitched all seven innings and struck out nine for the Huskies. She was 3 for 5 at the plate with a triple and stolen base.
Also for Morgan, Colleen Edwards went 3 for 4 with a RBI and three steals and Sydney Robison went 3 for 4 with a double, triple and 2 RBIs.
Old Lyme 17, Hale-Ray 2 (5)
Grace Lathrop and Emma Baylor were 4 for 4 at the plate and winning pitcher Victoria Gage allowed two earned runs on five hits, walked none and struck out eight in Saturday’s season opener.
Lathrop scored five runs and Bayor had three doubles and drove in five runs. Also joining in the Wildcats’ offensive attack: Paige Kolesnik with three hits (two doubles) and five RBIs, Alison Ward with three hits and two RBIs, Ava Roth with a triple, single and two RBIs, and Lauren Creagan with two hits and two runs scored.
Hale-Ray pitcher Sammy LaFemia took the loss.
