Pictured: Caeley Ayer, shown earlier this season, had her career-best scoring night Thursday.
Morgan guard Caeley Ayer was bound to have a night like this sooner or later.
The talented sophomore scored a career-high 30 points Thursday night to lead the Huskies to their eighth win in nine games, 62-27 over Westbrook in Clinton.
Ayer, who had 21 points in the first half, made four 3-pointers and also had 6 steals at the other end of the floor.
“Caeley was outstanding tonight offensively and defensively,” Morgan coach Caitlin Woods said. “She shot tremendously from the perimeter and she used her speed to get to the hoop so well. When she’s on defensively, she’s so tough to play against.
“Tonight she showed her complete game, and I’m happy that it’s showing at the right time of the season.”
Ayer’s cousin, senior point guard Catie Donadio, scored 12 points, dished 6 assists, had 3 steals and 2 blocked shots.
Westbrook junior Jami Sacco led the Knights with 20 points.
