DEEP RIVER — Catie Donadio led three Morgan players in double-figure scoring with a career-high 28 points as the Huskies defeated host Valley Regional 56-40 Saturday in Shoreline Conference girls basketball.
Caeley Ayer contributed 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals for the Huskies, who have won three straight, and Katie Martin added 10 points. Alex Kelly grabbed 9 rebounds.
Morgan trailed by one at halftime, led by three points after three quarters and pulled away in the fourth by outscoring Valley 22-9.
“I think they finally just allowed the offense to come to them as opposed to forcing shots or being so stuck in our half-court sets,” Morgan coach Caitlin Woods said. “Catie and Caeley definitely took over the game in the fourth quarter. We always capitalized on their fouls by finishing layups and free throws.”
Donadio’s milestone game comes just after she recorded her 1,000th career point earlier in the week in a victory over North Branford. The senior point guard, who will go on to play at Conn College, also had 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
