No Seniors, No Problem: Middletown Beats Rocky Hill

Posted by

Tyah Pettaway scored 18 points and Shadae Bushay finished with 17, helping Middletown end a two-game losing streak with a 55-22 CCC win over Rocky Hill.

Aysia Henderson added 8 points as the host Blue Dragons (5-7), without a senior on the floor due to injuries, built a 20-5 lead after one quarter and sailed the rest of the way.

“Instead of shying away from the challenge, our kids stepped up and played one of our best games of the season,” Middletown coach Rob Smernoff said. “I couldn’t be any happier with a young group of players as I was today. They stuck together and played up-tempo and remained positive throughout.”

Jenaya Salafia and Jada Bryant scored 4 points each for Middletown, which visits Berlin on Friday night (6:45 tip).

Rocky Hill fell to 1-9.
