Middletown Routs Bulkeley; Big Games For Pope, Nkonoki

Middletown senior forward Donte Pope scored 17 of his game-high 32 points in the second half and the Blue Dragons pulled away to defeat Bulkeley 77-63 on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Hartford.

Pope also grabbed 11 rebounds in the CCC clash as Middletown rebounded from last week’s loss to Glastonbury. Jonathan Nkonoki also had a big day for the Blue Dragons with 20 points and 7 rebounds.

Backup point guard Matt Steuerwald chipped in with 10 points for Middletown (6-2).

Errol Hall scored 15 points for Bulkeley (3-6).

Middletown hosts Bassick of Bridgeport on Wednesday at 6:45pm. The Lions (6-3) are on a four-game winning streak and receive votes in the GameTimeCT Top 10 poll.
