Grabowski Pours In 25 As Valley Knocks Off Cromwell

DEEP RIVER – Valley Regional senior guard Gavin Grabowski flashed a hot hand Monday night, scoring a game-high 25 points to lead the Warriors to their fifth straight win, 55-44 over Cromwell in Shoreline Conference play.

Grabowski hit four 3-pointers and also contributed 7 rebounds and 4 assists as Valley (6-3) handed Cromwell (5-2) its first Shoreline regular-season defeat in two years. The last such loss for the Panthers came on Jan. 15, 2018, a span of 29 games, against East Hampton.

Jake Grow added 10 points and Cade Ensinger and John Tibbetts each had 6 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Valley.

James Grodzicki led Cromwell with 13 points.

Cromwell hosts North Branford on Thursday. Valley visits H-K on Friday.

WALLINGFORD – Xavier got a career night from senior guard Stephen Kohs, who hit five 3-pointers and finished with 34 points in a battle of one-loss teams in the Southern Connecticut Conference.

Senior center Andrew Brown scored 23 points and senior guard KJ Grisham added 15 in Xavier’s third straight win and second OT win this season.

Garret Molamphy had seven 3-points and finished with 34 points for Sheehan.

Chris Onofrio led the Blue Devils with 17 points.
