Cromwell Rides Defense In 2nd Half To Defeat Morgan

CROMWELL – Cromwell put the clamps on Morgan’s potent offense on Thursday night to remain undefeated in Shoreline Conference play with a 47-43 win over the Huskies at Jake Salafia Gymnasium.

Morgan averaged 64 points during a four-game winning streak that ended at the hands of the Panthers, who improved to 5-0 in the Shoreline and 5-1 overall.

“We have a great defensive effort in the second half,” Cromwell coach John Pinone said. “We were able to get some easy baskets in transition as well.”

Michael Morgan led the Panthers with 15 points and James Grodzicki and Justin Valentin chipped in with 10 apiece.

Zach Johnson scored a game-high 19 points for Morgan, who put only four players in the scoring column.
